Speaking at the event, Nia thanked everyone for their efforts and said

“It is marvellous to see so much support for this excellent cause. We have all seen on TV the immense bravery of those who have been injured in battle and who are struggling to rebuild their lives, and we should do all we can to help them”.

Help the Heroes

Local teenager Abigail Davies recently organised an auction raising money for Help the Heroes.  Help the Heroes is a non-party political charity dedicated to raising money for servicemen and women wounded in conflict since September 2011.  After hearing of Abigail’s sucess in the fundraising auction, The Prison Officers Association added £3000 to the fund.

Nia said, “I am delighted to have been able to support Abigail Davies’ fantastic effort in raising thousands of pounds for Help the Heroes through the auction she organised. The Prison Officers Assoication were so impressed that they have sent a cheque for £3000 to boost the funds, which you see Meirion Evans of the Prison Officers’ Association presenting to Abigail here. Abigal has a great future, and I hope she will consider using her talent in politics, following in the footsteps of her grandmother Cllr Tegwen Devicahnd currently Chair of the County Council (pictured here on right) and her mother Cllr Sharen Davies, Currently Chair of Llaneli Rural.”
