Home > News > Hillsborough Law finally gets House of Commons backing

The Hillsborough Law gained approval in the House of Commons yesterday to reset the balance between the state and ordinary people and ensure injustice has no place to hide.

This Bill and its legacy belongs to the families of the 97 who carried the torch of justice through decades of darkness and refused to give up until the truth was known.

This is a campaign I’ve long supported and when I met only last week with the Justice Minister, Catherine Atkinson MP, I was so pleased to hear that legal arguments delaying the Bill were close to being resolved.

The new law will now help ensure truth and justice will no longer have to be prised from behind from closed doors, and that families seeking answers will never again be left to fight alone.
