Powerful messages earlier from both our Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle and the Ukrainian Parliament Chairman Stefanchuk on partnership between our two countries and our support for Ukraine, as they defend not only themselves but the rest of Europe from Putin’s aggression.
In our meeting with Chairman Stefanchuk, he spoke about the impact of the war on civilian life, the appalling abduction and brain-washing of Ukrainian children by Putin and the need to keep up the pressure on Putin by effective sanctions.
In her statement to Parliament this afternoon, the Foreign Secretary emphasized the UK’s on-going commitment to Ukraine, announced further sanctions and stressed how the UK is pushing at every level to get frozen Russian assets used to help Ukraine now and in the future.
