A secure water supply is essential for everyone. Yet the previous Government turned a blind eye and allowed the rivers, lakes and seas that we all love have record levels of pollution.

Earlier this month Labour’s groundbreaking Water (Special Measures) Act become law – with new powers to ban the payment of unfair bonuses for polluting water bosses, bring criminal charges against lawbreakers and other measures to clean up our rivers, lakes and seas for good.

The UK and Welsh Governments have launched the largest review of the water sector since privatisation: an Independent Water Commission, which will explore further changes to deliver an industry that serves customers and the environment, attracts investment to clean up our waterways and restores trust.
