Consultation on Revised Proposals for Wales’ 16 new Senedd Constituencies closes on Monday, 13th January.

There is logic in putting two existing UK Parliamentary constituencies together to make one Senedd constituency and placing Llanelli and Caerfyrddin (Carmarthen) together.

Having heard views from my constituents, I have suggested to Democracy & Boundary Commission Cymru that the new constituency be called “Llanelli and Carmarthen” or “Llanelli a Chaerfyrddin” to prevent confusion between the new constituency and the existing County Council and to preserve the longstanding historic constituency name of Llanelli as the biggest town and industrial powerhouse of Carmarthenshire.
