Steelmaking has been an important part of life in Llanelli for over 70 years but hundreds of jobs at Trostre and many more in our local communities are now at stake. Tata’s decision to shut the blast furnaces in Port Talbot means that we have one last chance to fight for the future of steel in South West Wales.
I’ve already taken that battle directly to ministers, speaking up in Parliament to ensure this vital industry in Llanelli is not forgotten and campaigning alongside steelworkers to Save Our Steel. I’ve also met with the CEO of Tata Steel UK and I will always do everything I can to defend jobs and investment at the plant.
The Tories just don’t care about our steel industry. A Labour UK Government will fight for every single job in Trostre, providing the strong and stable economy our manufacturing industries badly need and backing our steelworkers with a £3bn clean steel fund to help meet the challenges they face.
Thank you Andrew for your support.
