Today is Holocaust Memorial Day.

This year’s theme of the fragility of freedom reminds us of the need to be constantly vigilant, to defend people’s freedoms, freedom of religion and freedom to self-identify, and to speak out against all forms of prejudice and abuse, so as to make sure that nothing like the Holocaust ever happens again.

Recently, in Parliament, I signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment, honouring those who were murdered during the Holocaust as well as paying tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people today.
