New facilities to boost the quality of life for residents of a Cross Hands Care Home, including a bowling alley, coffee shop / bar and 26 more bedrooms were officially opened earlier today by Dame Nia Griffith, the area’s local Member of Parliament.
The ambitious and innovative expansion of the Gwernllwyn Care Home at its complex on Llandeilo Road will not only increase its capacity to play host to more people in need of respite and residential care but, just as importantly, provide more things to keep its existing residents and their families occupied and supported.
The bowling alley and the coffee shop / bar area will also be accessible to the general public and will allow the local community to interact with those living in the care home in a comfortable and safe environment. Additional parking has also been provided on site for visitors.
Welcoming the new investment into the Care Home, Dame Nia Griffith MP, said:
“It was a real pleasure to open this new state-of-the-art extension, bar and bowling alley, as it is great that residents here in the Gwernllwyn and their friends and family will be able to relax and enjoy a drink and a game, without having to leave the comfort of the complex.
I can imagine it will also make visiting Mamgu or Dadgu all the more fun for younger members of the family, and I congratulate Will James and his team on planning and developing this facility.“
