Today is National Manufacturing Day and manufacturers will be opening the doors to their factories and sites all across the UK in order to show the potential careers and jobs on offer within the increasingly diverse manufacturing sector.
The day will help show the reality of modern manufacturing careers whilst highlighting the benefits that manufacturing provides to local communities and the country as a whole.
So many jobs in Llanelli rely on a healthy manufacturing sector and that is why it is so important the the UK has a detailed and comprehensive Industrial Strategy, something that the Tories, so far, have refused to adopt. We need far more support for our key industries including steel and automotive.
Labour believes in the power of industrial policy and would work with businesses and workers to grow industry, create wealth and jobs, and tackle the issues facing our society.
