A third of pensioners eligible to claim Pension Credit (a means tested benefit for pensioners on low incomes) are not doing so and could be missing out on help, including a £650 Cost of Living Payment.

The payment will be made in two lump sums, the first from this month and the second in autumn. As Pension Credit can be backdated by up to three months, older people who are eligible but have not yet claimed can still receive both Cost of Living Payment instalments.

To ensure they receive the first instalment, they must claim Pension Credit by 18th August 2022.
