As a member of the USDAW trade union I’m supporting “National Respect for Shopworkers Week”.

Life in retail is never easy but shopworkers have really stepped up to the mark in recent months to help us through the Coronavirus outbreak. Shockingly, incidents of assault, threats and abuse against shopworkers have continued with the rate doubling this year compared to 2019.That’s why a change in the law is needed.

Creating a specific offence that protects shopworkers and carries a strong penalty as a deterrent is essential.

Due to COVID, this year I am unable to join Llanelli campaigners in person to show my support but I urge everyone who appreciates the valuable work that they do, to sign up and respond to their call for action.
