Kind hearted volunteers from across Llanelli have been working hard over the last few weeks to help address the increased demand for PPE for frontline NHS workers during the Covid-19 outbreak.

As part of the “For the Love of Scrubs” campaign, made up of over 40,000 people nationwide, local co-ordinator Jayne Siddell and her volunteer crafters have been using their own sewing machines and supplies of materials to create protective “scrubs” for use by staff at the Hywel Dda Health Board.

Delivering the latest batch to medics at Prince Phillip Hospital, Llanelli, were local MP Nia Griffith and Dafen Labour councillor, Rob Evans.

Nia Griffith, MP for Llanelli, said:

“It was a real privilege to be able to thank Jayne personally for all that she and her teams are doing to provide much- needed hospital scrubs, and to hear about the extensive logistical exercise that goes into getting the material out to the volunteers and the finished scrubs and scrub bags back to our local hospitals.”

Councillor Rob Evans added:

“It is fantastic to see the way that local communities have come together to do their bit at this time of crisis.  Jayne and everyone else involved in this project have been doing excellent work and making a massive contribution in helping to protect workers on the frontline.”
