Over the last few weeks, my staff and I have been working remotely, dealing with hundreds of extra cases due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
We continue to take up concerns brought to us by constituents on many issues including the need for more help for those not covered by the Chancellor’s recent announcements, pushing for adequate PPE supplies for our frontline keyworkers, tackling rogue employers, helping those having difficulty with the benefits system and lobbying the Foreign Office for support for local residents stranded abroad.
There have been media reports today of an increase of £10k in MPs’ “expenses” because of Coronavirus. This is, in fact, a temporary fund set up to be allocated only to purchase necessary equipment so staff can work from home during the ongoing lockdown. It is not cash for extra pay or salary and cannot be used for any other purpose. My office already operates with the required flexibility so I can reassure constituents that I will not be claiming any of this additional funding whatsoever.
Contact details for my office can be found above should anyone require advice or assistance during this difficult time, including over the Easter weekend.
As the bank holiday approaches and good weather is forecast, please #StayHomeSaveLives.
Wishing you all a very happy Easter!
