Huge thanks to Cllr Rob Evans, George Parker and everyone else who helped to set up the Dafen Memorial Garden for Remembrance Sunday. It was a pleasure to visit on Friday and see the special effort they’ve made.

I was also very humbled to join the War Widows’ Association’s very moving Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph this weekend, and it was a great privilege to be at the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, with its particular emphasis on the contribution by the Commonwealth and our Allies in the latter part of WWII.

On Remembrance Sunday, we remember those who lost their lives in the service of our country, and the debt we owe our veterans.

We know that the overwhelming majority of ex-service personnel transition very well into civilian life, but Labour is committed to improving opportunities for veterans with free lifelong education and training, prompt access for those who need it to mental health services, and an end to the scandal of veterans sleeping rough on our streets.
