Former miners deserve a much fairer deal on their pensions. It is shocking that the UK Government is making huge profits from the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme (MPS) while many of those who paid into it are struggling.
I and other Labour MPs from former coalfield areas met reps from the National Union of Mineworkers last week to discuss the urgent need to review the MPS and give former miners a fairer share of the surpluses.
