Scams Awareness Month is an important campaign from Citizens Advice to help people become #scamaware and avoid these cruel, predatory crimes.
It’s now nearly two since my uncle passed away at the magnificent age of 100, when, thankfully, he was still fully in charge of his faculties. But, a few years earlier, he had been tempted by the alluring, ‘personalised’ tone of scam letters saying he had won this or that, and had written away with the resulting deluge of similar letters. Luckily we were able to stop things before it all got out of hand, but it shows how easy it is to be taken in and how persistent these scammers can be.
