Today Lee Waters AM and I met County Council officers and the Executive Board member for Culture, Sport and Tourism to spell out why local residents were shocked to see the splattering of yellow lines on the approach roads to the Burrows (or Fisherman’s) “car-park” just outside Pembrey Country Park, and the real concern about any plans for pay and display car parking.

In response to the officers, we pointed out the importance of access to the beach and the nature reserves here, and that congestion and verge damage had not been a problem hitherto… and that it is the regular users who help maintain these areas through litter picks, reporting problems, etc.

We asked them to take all these matters into consideration. We also stressed the anger about the proposed charges on other coast and country car-parks, and the very negative impact it would have on local residents.
