Lee Waters AM and I were in Llanelli town centre on the weekend encouraging residents to shop local for Small Business Saturday.

We also launched our campaign to promote small, local businesses on social media in the run-up to Christmas. Please send us photos of your shop or products and we will share them on Facebook and Twitter throughout December.

Both Lee and I honoured the #10PoundPledge, which asks residents to spend £10 in a small business. I bought a necklace at Peruse, a pizza in Simon J’s Pizzeria and a copy of local author Mary Powles’ new book from the John Street Gallery. I will be returning to the gallery shortly to choose one of Denise Di Battista’s paintings.

Small businesses really are the beating heart of our community. They bring a distinctive character to Llanelli and help to keep areas like our town centre alive.

Small Business Saturday is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the vital contribution local businesses make to our area. It’s important to remember to shop local all year round in order to sustain the success of small businesses and ensure they’re here when we need them.

Any shopkeepers or tradespeople looking to promote their business can get in touch on 01554 756374 or visiting my office at 43 Pottery St, Llanelli SA15 1SU. Please send any photos, twitter handles and/or Facebook page names to nia.griffith.mp@parliament.uk
