Nia Griffith MP with Protect the Protectors campaigners

Friday is usually my constituency business day, but today I am staying up in Parliament to ensure that we get the 100 MPs there that we need to secure the next stage of Chris Bryant MP’s private member’s bill, the Assaults on Emergency Workers (Offences) Bill. This bill would make an assault against emergency workers including firefighters, police, paramedics and nurses a specific offence, and thus help strengthen protection for those who provide these vital services for us.
