Local school children are bringing Christmas to life this year by designing the cards to be sent out by the area’s MP and AM. Lee Waters AM and Nia Griffith MP have been very impressed by the entries for their Christmas card competition sent in by hundreds of pupils from across the Llanelli Constituency. The AM and MP would like to thank Parker Plant Hire for sponsoring the competition this year and Fay Hampson for help with organising and displaying the entries: the winning pupils will receive a framed copy of their picture, and their schools will receive a cash prize. The theme for this year was to portray Christmas in our locality, and the difficult task of choosing the winners was kindly undertaken by Tom Swain, local artist, Angela Thatcher, designer and Chrissie Lackey from Llanelly House.
The winner of the junior category is Anya Evans of Ysgol Parc y Tywyn, who drew a very detailed picture of Llanelli Town Hall, and the winner of the infant category is Serenity Adams- Sargeant, whose picture features Kidwelly Castle. Runners up in the infant category are Lola King, Levitt Rees and Ruby O’Neil and in the junior category Kaylin Powell, Ffion Hughes and Steffan Evans. Their pictures, together with a selection of pictures the judges considered worthy of special praise will be on display in Llanelly House from Saturday 3rd December until Christmas.
