Nia Griffith MP chose to make Dwyfor Meirionnydd Labour Party the first political visit that she has made since taking up the role of Shadow Secretary of State for Wales.
After meeting the members and supporters in Barmouth, Nia Griffith said,
“It was wonderful to be met with such enthusiasm from party members, both new and not so new, members and supporters who are really keen to get involved in political debate and campaigning. There’s no doubt about it that the election of Jeremy Corbyn as leader with his honesty, his principles and his real commitment to creating a fairer, kinder society, has inspired people up and down the country, and Dwyfor Meirionnydd Labour Party is no exception, quadrupling its membership in the last few months. We had a wide-ranging discussion both on national and international issues, and on the particular challenges facing rural areas like Dwyfor Meirionnydd. I realise that Barmouth is only one small corner of this very beautiful but huge constituency, and I shall certainly be back to meet people in other areas.”
