In spite of the weather, there was a good turnout for the Llanelli Railway Goods Shed Trust open day on Saturday. The Trust organised special tours of the building as part of a consultation day being held at the town’s St Barnabas Hall.
Following the guided tours, members of the public heard a short presentation on the Goods Shed project and took part in a discussion on the future uses of the building. They were also able to view an exhibition of the latest plans.
Nia Griffith MP who chairs the Trust opened the meeting, saying
“Restoring this building will give a huge lift the area. We want to see this historic building restored, and used in ways which will secure a viable income to cover future running costs. We have had to do a lot of basic work behind the scenes in preparation for our main funding bids and we are very pleased to have secured funds to employ a project officer, Rob Lloyd, who will now be able to accelerate the process.”
