Nia Griffith MP has visited Llanelli sorting office to thank the staff for all their work at Christmas, and get a feel of just how busy that office can get. Nia was advised that with the increase in internet shopping, the big rush is coming earlier, as people get items delivered to their homes ready to give a Christmas, so she made her visit a few weeks ago.
However, commenting today, Nia said, “As we get to the final countdown before Christmas with the last Royal Mail deliveries completed, I’d just like to reiterate my thanks to all the staff at the Royal Mail sorting office here in Llanelli for all their work throughout the year, and in particular at this busy time. I know that our local posties often go out of their way to make sure that things get delivered, and get signed for. The newspaper headlines today about courier firms failing to deliver in time for Christmas highlights the dangers of the mushrooming of courier firms thinking they can undercut the Royal Mail and then, when the pressure is on, finding they cannot cope, leaving customers very angry and disappointed. I hope all our posties here in Llanelli have a well-deserved rest over Christmas. Nadolig Llawen i chi gyd.”
