Nia Griffith MP has taken the Prime Minister to task over the failure of his government to negotiate on the terms and conditions of the recent budget demand from the EU. Questioning the Prime Minister during his statement on the EU council of ministers, Nia said,
“In spite of the Prime Minister’s protestations, Treasury Ministers have known about this budget contribution for months. Now that the Prime Minister has finally caught up and presumably been briefed, will he tell us what changes and concessions his Ministers have asked .”
Commenting afterwards, Nia said,
“Ministers have known about these budget proposals for years and they should have been negotiating a better deal for the UK way before now, not pretending that it is a surprise now. Rather than just feigning anger, the Prime Minister needs to come clean about what changes and concessions for the UK he has actually asked for. He just could not answer .”
