Nia Griffith MP has welcomed the news from the Health Minister that Llanelli’s Prince Philip Hospital is to have a doctor-led emergency care service
“I am pleased to hear that Mark Drakeford the Health Minister has listened to our pleas on behalf of the people of Llanelli, and has now written to us, stating very clearly that there will be a doctor-led emergency care service at Prince Philip Hospital. This is what we have been asking for; it is absolutely essential that in the largest town in west Wales, we should have an A& E where people will be seen by doctors who have the necessary expertise to ensure that they get the treatment they need. Now we need to keep a close eye on the Hywel Dda Health Board to ensure that they implement the Minister’s decision in full, and that there is no slipping back or trying to downgrade services by the backdoor. I am also keeping up the pressure on them to drop their plans to stop in-patient orthopaedics operations over the winter, and to allow the surgeons to get on with the operations that people in our community have been waiting for.”
