Last Saturday Nia Griffith MP and Councillors Jan Williams and Bill Thomas hosted a residents’ consultation meeting in the Selwyn Samuel Centre on the future development of the park at Parc Howard. Following clarification of the proposed submission to the lotttery fund by Barabara Willis, Secretary of the Parc Howard Association, residents overwhelmingly supported the vision with no car parking allowed inside the park. Plans are ready to go for the renovation of the bandstand and the cafe, and the vision includes revitalisation of a dozen other aspects of the Park . There was also a unanimous view that the mansion should not be turned into a wedding party venue, and concern that reference to this vision was still on the County Council’s website.
Nia explained
“There was clear agreement from the meeting to support the plan for submission to the Heritage Lottery Fund which does NOT have car-parking inside the Park. We will now be asking the Council Council to update its website to make it absolutely clear exactly which plan is going to the Heritage Lottery Fund. We will also be asking them to revise the section referring to a wedding party venue.
There will be another oppotunity to have your say on the proposals next Saturday, 22nd June at 11 am in the Athenaeum, upstairs in Llanelli Library at a meeting open to the public hosted by the Parc Howard Association.
