Nia Griffith MP recently presented certificates to local first responders at a fund-raising and presentation evening. The evening was organised by the Pontyberem First Responders to celebrate their achievement since they started last December, but first responders from the surrounding area were also invited to receive their certificates. First responders give freely of their time, but the local group still need money to pay for their equipment, so any help would be most welcome. Congratulating the first responders on their achievement, Nia said, “It is a tremendous privilege to present certificates to first responders from Llanelli, Burry Port , Tumble and Pontyberem who have undertaken a rigorous training course and now give freely of their time to respond to emergency calls in the area. On behalf of our communities, I should like to thank them for their enthusiasm and willingness to go out to emergencies and provide that vital first support, which can save lives, while the ambulance is on its way. The Pontyberem team alone have responded to over 170 calls since last December, and I know that people are very grateful for their help.”
