At long last parking charges have now been scrapped at Prince Philip and Glangwili hospitals, making Wales the first country in the UK to have free parking at ALL hospitals. This is down to the decision by Labour’s Health Minister Edwina Hart AM who scrapped the fees back in 2008 but we had some of the longest car park contracts here in West Wales that had to run their course.
You may remember Edwina Hart was also responsible for bringing back in-house privatised hospital cleaning contracts. Where privatised services are not delivering or are not in the public interest, we must be prepared to challenge them and do things differently, such as bringing them back in-house.
