Tomorrow marks the end of this year’s LGBT history month, when we look back on the first public protests against Section 28 and the campaigning that lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people and those with other sexual orientations and identities have done over the years to fight for equality.
We’ve made huge progress on this, both in law and society at large, but still have a long way to go in tackling prejudice, discrimination and harassment. I’m proud to stand with my Labour colleagues in support of LGBT history month and all initiatives that raise awareness of the ongoing struggle to achieve equality for LGBT people.
