Following the sad death of Labour Councillor George Edwards who served the Hengoed Ward tirelessly on both the County Council and the Llanelli Rural Council, there is a by-election on Thursday 19th February.

Labour is standing a great team – Penny Edwards, the wife of the late George Edwards, who lives in Pwll, is Labour’s candidate for the County Council. Penny says,

“I strongly believe that the people of Hengoed deserve to have a representative who listens to and understands their concerns and who is committed to making sure that decisions are made that benefit our community. I would consider it a privilege to be elected as your representative.”

Tonia Antoniazzi who is a Head of Languages at Bryngwyn School is Labour’s candidate for Llanelli Rural Council. Tonia explains

“I was brought up in the Hengoed Ward, Llanelli and educated in St John Lloyd School. I am an ex – Welsh Women’s Rugby player and I have worked in education since 1996. As your Labour candidates we will be a strong voice for Hengoed. We pledge to listen and respond to the residents of Hengoed Ward and to ensure that your County and Rural Councils provide value for money and high standards of service”

Penny and Tonia have already been out in the ward knocking doors and hoping to meet as many residents as possible, but if they miss you, you are welcome to get in touch:-
