At the invitation of Des Thomas of the Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway, Nia Griffith MP recently joined civic dignitaries at the Cynheidre site to see a locomotive named in honour of benefactor Peter J. Griffiths – local boy made good – who has very generously donated thousands of pounds to the project. Peter who pointed out the house in Cynheidre where he was brought up just yards from the Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway site, emigrated to the USA in 1972 but continues to make regular visits to Wales with his wife, who is from Bala.
