I’m delighted to be supporting the #CofioJim campaign to erect a statue of the great Jim Griffiths, who served as Llanelli’s MP for 34 years.
Jim was a champion for Welsh people as the first Secretary of State for Wales in 1964, and he was one of the founders of the modern welfare state as Minister for National Insurance in Clement Attlee’s post-war government.
Lee Waters AM and I have named our office in his honour, and I hope local councils can work together to find another way to commemorate this titan of the Labour movement.
