Publication1Nia Griffith MP, Labour’s Shadow Welsh Secretary, responding to today’s vote in the Senedd, said:

“I am surprised and disappointed that Plaid Cymru has sought to override the democratic decision that the people of Wales made last week.

“Today the Assembly should have elected Carwyn Jones as First Minister to deal with the very serious challenges facing Wales, such as supporting our steel industry.

“I don’t think that Leanne Wood’s constituents in the Rhondda, or Plaid voters across Wales, voted for a party that would do grubby deals with the Tories and UKIP led by the disgraced Neil Hamilton, parties that want to privatise the National Health Service to give tax cuts to their rich friends.”
