Nia Griffith MP, Labour’s Shadow Welsh Secretary, responding to the Queen’s speech, said:

“It’s clear that David Cameron wants to distract from the Conservative infighting over the EU referendum by talking about life chances. But his government has undermined the life chances of ordinary people over the last six years and there was nothing in this Queen’s speech to change that.

“I was very disappointed not to hear any detail on the infrastructure projects that Wales needs, like electrifying railways in North and South Wales, or backing the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon.

“There was a reference to establishing a strong and lasting devolution settlement for Wales and I sincerely hope that is what the new Wales Bill will achieve. We look forward to scrutinising the detail of the new Bill when it is presented to Parliament.”
