Nia Griffith MP, Labour’s Shadow Welsh Secretary, responding to new analysis showing the UK Government is paving the way to privatise Milford Haven port, said:
“It is clear that the UK Government wants to retain control over Milford Haven port so that they can privatise it in the future.
“As they prepare to devolve control overall other trust ports to the Welsh Government, Milford Haven is the one glaring omission and we can guess why.
“Stephen Crabb needs to come clean about what the UK Government has planned for Milford Haven.
“Previous privatisation proposals have raised serious concerns about asset-stripping by speculators and the fragmentation of ports. There is no reason to believe these dangers aren’t just as real in the case of Milford Haven.”
