IMG_0067The Friends of Llanelli Train Station held a consultation event in the Coffee Pot cafe last week at which plans were on display for a possible layout of the Station Garden. The Coffee Pot cafe is situated just across the road from the proposed garden area which is currently a piece of waste ground near the level crossing at the western end of Llanelli Station.

At the consultation, Caroline Streek and Lyn John of Llanelli Community Heritage reaffirmed their commitment to designing an information board in the same style as the 14 boards that this dedicated heritage group have provided in and around Llanelli.

Nia Griffith MP, who took the initiative in establishing the Friends of Llanelli Train Station said,

“I would like to thank all those who have helped us get this far, including Dan Snaith and his volunteers who have helped clear the ground, John Prosser who was instrumental in organising the consultation event, sponsors who have offered support for the project and David Darkin of Darkin Architects who got the necessary survey done, and drew up the draft plans for the garden to inspire us all about what could be done with this corner of land. Once the spring comes, we hope to get on with the work necessary to turn these plans into a reality.”
