This week Labour called a Commons debate on delivering fair funding for Wales.

Speaking about the debate, Nia Griffith MP, Labour’s Shadow Welsh Secretary, said:

“Wales deserves its fair share of funding and it’s time for the UK Government to deliver. Over the last five years the Conservatives have slashed Welsh Government funding by £1.4bn. That’s why we are calling on the Government to implement the so-called Barnett floor which would protect Welsh spending. With new powers being devolved to the Assembly, it’s more important than ever that Welsh Government has the resources it needs to provide the services which the Welsh people rely on. It is very disappointing that in spite of having had warning of this debate, the Wales Minister had nothing new to tell us.”
