Nia Griffith MP with Dr Devichand and some of his patients and the patients petition.

Nia Griffith MP has urged Hywel Dda Health Board to act swiftly and end the uncertainty surrounding Dr Devichand’s Andrew Street and Dafen surgeries after urgent requests for help from worried patients.

Nia said, “Several patients contacted me over the weekend to say that they were worried about the future of their surgery after learning that Dr Devichand was going to retire in September. Dr Devichand has done the decent thing and given the LHB a year’s notice but he’s still waiting for an answer as to what is going to happen to his patients and surgeries.

Some of the patients have started a petition which I am supporting. I have asked the Hywel Dda University Health Board to give this matter their urgent attention to put an end to patients’ worry about their future care and to act upon patients’ wishes that Dr Devichand’s practice becomes a managed practice. Hywel Dda now needs to get its act together and put the necessary plans in place so that in September there will be a smooth transition to a proper managed service.”
