Following confirmation from Health Minister Mark Drakeford that emergency care services at Prince Philip Hospital will be  clinically led by doctors, Nia Griffith is continuing to put pressure on the Health Board to maintain and improve services at Prince Philip Hospital.

After a recent meeting with both the new Chief Executive and Chair of the Hywel Dda Health Board, Nia said, “I have been reassured again that the A&E department in Prince Philip Hospital will continue to be doctor led – that is what we have been fighting for and that is what we have got. However, we must never be complacent, and I will keep the pressure up to improve services. Our recent discussions were positive, and, in response to my concerns, the new Chief Executive is seeking to implement improved access to the pain management service, better organisation of the blood test clinic and better use of theatre time to get waiting lists down.”

Tony Flatley, secretary of SOSPPAN/CIHS said, “Nia is tremendous – she has backed us all the way and I know she will always fight for Llanelli, our services and our people.”
