Nia with Tom and Tyler from Bigyn School

Nia Griffith has attended the opening of the new Ramps skate park in Sandy Bridge Yard. More than £300,000 in Lottery funding had been awarded to the Llanelli skate park project.

The three dads responsible for the transformation of Sandy Bridge Yard are, Martyn Phillips, Hywel Williams and Steven Avery who form Skatepark Ltd. Also as well as providing a state of the art skate park it also has a cafe and is expected to create 27 part-time and full-time jobs.

Speaking about the facilities, Nia said,

“There is a need in our town for more activities for young people and the skatepark offers a great opportunity for all those who enjoy skateboards, scooters and BMX bikes. It should also help to bring in more visitors to the area, who will then see some of the other exciting facilities that Llanelli has to offer, such as the new theatre and cinema complex in town.”
