After resisting campaigners’ calls for two years, the Tory-led government has finally caved in and agreed to bring in a statutory code for the pub companies (PubCos). It is important that we listen to pub tenants so we they tell the government what pub tenants need from the code.

Nia joined an event organised by Labour’s shadow business minister Toby Perkins MP to meet pub tenants and discuss what they want from the code, how to make rent reviews truly independent and what the role of the pub adjudicator should be.

 Nia commented,

“Pubs are an important part of our community life.To give them a fighting chance of survival, we need a code and watchdog strong enough to protect pub tenants from exploitation by PubCos.
