Nia Griffith MP has welcomed the Community Covenant for veterans which has been adopted by Carmarthenshire County Council. The purpose of the Covenant is to ensure that returning veterans are able to access services easily, without being penalised for having been away from the area in service to their country.

Attending the launch of the Community Covenant last week, Nia said “ I very much hope that what Carmarthenshire is doing today will help to stop veterans falling through the net, and will help to plug the gaps in communication that we have identified in our enquiry on the parliamentary Welsh Affairs Committee.  When people come out of the forces, they need a one-stop shop approach to accessing local services, whether they need help with housing or health services.”
