Nia Griffith MP has urged both the Chair of the Fire Authority, Cllr Wynne Evans, and Carl Sargeant AM, the Welsh Government minister responsible to do all they can to resolve the stalemate at Llanelli Fire Station. The MP has both written and spoken to Cllr Evans and Carl Sargeant’s department, saying”

I am very worried indeed about the situation at Llanelli Fire Station, now that the arbitration talks have not been successful, and we have a desperate situation in which 23 experienced fire-fighters in Llanelli are being asked to re-apply this week for the 15 posts allocated to Llanelli fire station under the authority’s latest proposals, and that furthermore the 23 have such serious concerns indeed about the impact of the proposals on Llanelli Fire Service, that they are minded not to sign up.

I would urge you to do all  you can to bring the sides together to negotiate a settlement that is acceptable to all, and which provides full cover for Llanelli – with no reduction in levels of service or staff expertise.”
