Nia Griffith MP has slammed the Chancellor’s caravan tax as yet another mad idea, which will hit the holiday trade really badly just at a time his policies are making the country slip into a double-dip recession which is even worse than first thought.

Nia has attacked the caravan tax in debate in parliament and called on the government to drop the proposal

“ This caravan tax is yet another ill-thought-out idea from this government, along with the granny tax and the pasty tax. Just at a time when tourism and leisure businesses  are really suffering, because people are struggling to cope with rocketing food  and fuel bills, this is a real blow to caravan manufacturers, caravan parks and all the local businesses here in West Wales who depend on the  tourist trade. The government should be trying to stimulate growth in the economy, instead of bringing in policies which will put thousands of jobs at risk.”
