Town MP Nia Griffith said: “I look forward to seeing progress on those projects which will help to regenerate the centre of Llanelli — projects we know can go ahead because they have already been granted funding — and there is a considerable amount of funding that has been earmarked for Llanelli from various sources including the European Union, the Assembly, the county council and the Lottery. These include the long-awaited restoration of Llanelly House, and the regeneration of the Upper Park Street area of town.

“I look forward to the involvement of the University of Wales Trinity St David in the arts project based in and around Zion Chapel, as it will make the project more sustainable and will help to bring more people into town and increase footfall for traders.

“I very much hope that funding bids will be successful for the various hardworking local groups who are seeking to improve their localities — such as the groups seeking new equipment and improvements for Burry Port Park and Tir Einon Park in Llwynhendy, to name just two of many.”
